On April 28, 2024, at 9:27 a.m., Riverside Sheriff’s Dispatch received information from the Glendale Police Department regarding a suicide threat. Information obtained by the Glendale Police Department revealed two individuals had threatened suicide and were possibly in the area of Cajalco Road and La Sierra Avenue, in the unincorporated area of Riverside County, known as Lake Mathews. Deputies assigned to the Lake Mathews Sheriff’s Station responded to the area and located a vehicle with two deceased individuals inside.

The deceased individuals were later identified as Matthew Haze, a 54-year-old male, and Naomi Haneji-Haze, a 53-year-old female, both residents of Glendale.

At this time, this incident is being investigated as a murder/suicide. Due to the ongoing investigation, no additional information will be released. Anyone with information regarding this investigation is encouraged to call Investigator N. Jones of the Central Homicide Unit at 951–955–2777 or Investigator J.
