One arrested, Seventeen Cited at City of Perris DUI Checkpoint

Perris, Calif. – On May 3, 2024, 1 person was arrested for DUI and 17 citations were issued for violations such as driving with suspended/revoked license or without a license at a DUI checkpoint.

The DUI checkpoint was held at Perris Blvd. and Business Park Dr. from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.

17 drivers were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed or with a suspended/revoked license, and 512 vehicles were contacted. 54 vehicles were subject to secondary screening, 4 field sobriety tests were conducted, and 2 vehicles were towed.

DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads.

The next DUI checkpoint will be held on August 30, 2024.

Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
