There are three levels of reserve deputy, each requiring some degree of the same law enforcement training that a sworn deputy must complete. Reserve Deputy Sheriff - Level III is the minimum requirement to become a reserve deputy.
Part Time Training
The Sheriff's Department Clark Training Center offers training as a part-time academy and courses are scheduled on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 6 to 11 p.m. and every other Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The training courses can be taken at any accredited facility.
Becoming a reserve deputy requires a commitment in both time and effort as well as a financial investment for training and equipment.
