Procuring, providing, and maintaining efficient, cost effective, safe and reliable vehicles is essential to providing public safety services to the community. Our goal is to provide dependable vehicle transportation for the Sheriff's vehicle needs by responsibly managing productive and economical fleet operations.
The Sheriff’s Fleet Unit is an integral component of the Sheriff’s Office and manages a variety of vehicle services. Services include management of vehicle acquisition, product evaluation, equipment outfitting, preventative maintenance, mechanical repair, collision repair, vehicle disposal, and regulatory compliance. To efficiently provide the broad scope of services offered, the Sheriff’s Fleet Unit maintains strategic private vendor partnerships to assist with providing safe, reliable, and cost-effective transportation.
The Sheriff’s Fleet Unit manages approximately 1900 vehicles, which includes: Multiple make and model plain and patrol vehicles, prisoner transport vans and buses, trucks, trailers, and specialized vehicles for the K9 Unit, SWAT, and Hazardous Device Team. To reduce vehicle emissions and improve air quality, the Sheriff’s Fleet Unit manages a growing number of fuel-efficient hybrid vehicles and is dedicated to balancing emission reduction with meeting operational requirements.
The Public Safety Enterprise Communication (PSEC) System provides the technology and infrastructure required to meet the communication needs of our public safety and public safety partner agencies. PSEC’s provided services include voice, high performance data, broadband data, and microwave.
The PSEC System is one of the most the most feature-rich public safety radio systems in the nation. It enables the County's public safety responders to communicate efficiently and effectively within the County as well as with partnering agencies across the Country.
