Undersheriff Don Sharp

Undersheriff Don Sharp is a thirty-two year veteran of law enforcement. In September of 1989, he began his career with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office (LASD) after graduating a member of Class 255. During his next seven years, he worked assignments in the LASD Corrections, Courts, and Patrol Operations.

In March of 1996, Undersheriff Sharp joined the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office and was assigned to Patrol Operations at the Lake Elsinore Station. While there he was assigned to Patrol Operations, Field Training Officer (FTO), Special Enforcement Team (SET) Narcotics, and the Southwest Corridor Narcotics Task Force (SWCNTF). In February of 2001, Undersheriff Sharp was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and held various assignments at the Moreno Valley Station, Lake Elsinore Station, and Special Investigations Bureau (SIB). During his time as a sergeant, he supervised a multi-agency state task force for narcotics trafficking, managed a multi-agency grant project to assist children in domestic violence households, and supervised the narcotics lab team.

In September of 2012, Undersheriff Sharp was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and held various assignments at the Robert Presley Detention Center (RPDC) and the Jurupa Valley Station including patrol operations, traffic bureau and administrative duties. He was also the Assistant Chief of Police for the city of Jurupa Valley. In December of 2017, Undersheriff Sharp was promoted to the rank of Captain and managed the Coordinated Custody Management Unit (CCMU) which oversees the Sheriff’s Inmate Training and Education Bureau (SITE-B), the Riverside Alternative Sentencing Program (RASP), the Supervised Electronic Confinement Program (SECP), the Headcount Management Unit (HMU), and the Sheriff's AB 109 Realignment efforts.

Sheriff Bianco promoted Undersheriff Don Sharp to the rank of Chief Deputy, January 17, 2019, where he oversaw the Corrections Support Division, as well as the Indio and Blythe Jail facilities.

On December 19, 2019, Undersheriff Sharp was promoted to Assistant Sheriff by Sheriff Chad Bianco.

Undersheriff Sharp has a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Leadership awarded from Azusa Pacific University. He is also a graduate of the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute (SLI) Class 207.

Undersheriff Sharp has been married to his wife for 33 years and they have two adult children. His son is in the United States Coast Guard and his daughter, after graduating from Southern Oregon University, now works for the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

On June 30, 2022, Undersheriff Sharp was appointed to his current rank by Sheriff Chad Bianco.
