Chief Deputy Misty Reynolds began her career with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office in 1997 and was assigned to the Indio Jail. In January 1999, she transferred to the Palm Desert Station and patrolled the cities of Palm Desert, Indian Wells, Rancho Mirage, and the unincorporated county areas. In 2002, she was assigned to the Career Criminal Apprehension Team and was promoted to Senior Deputy.

In October 2003, she was promoted to Corporal within the Palm Desert Station. In January 2005, she promoted to Investigator and was assigned to the Professional Standards Bureau. In November 2006, she promoted to the rank of Sergeant and returned to the Palm Desert Station where she worked patrol, supervised the Special Enforcement Team and was the Administrative Sergeant for the City of Palm Desert. In March 2012, she promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and was assigned to the administrative position within the Thermal Station. In February 2014, she was reassigned to oversee the Coachella Police contract within the Thermal Station and assumed the responsibility as the Assistant Police Chief for Coachella. In addition to overseeing the Coachella contract, she supervised the deputies assigned to the Southern Coachella Valley Community Services District, the Tribal and Agricultural Liaisons and the School Resource Officers assigned to the Coachella Valley Unified School District. In April 2017, she was transferred to the Indio Jail.

In September 2017, she was promoted to the rank of Captain and assumed command of the Indio Jail. In April 2018, she transferred to the Thermal Station which serves the Eastern Coachella Valley to include the unincorporated areas of Chiriaco Summit, Thermal, Oasis, Mecca, Bermuda Dunes and the cities of Coachella and La Quinta and several Tribal Nations. In November 2020, she was transferred to the Major Crimes Bureau where she oversaw the Force Investigations Detail, Central Homicide Unit, Forensics Bureau, Crime Analyst Unit, Computer and Technology Crime High-Tech Response Unit and the newly created Special Victims Unit.

Chief Deputy Reynolds possesses a bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences from Chapman University and a master’s degree in Criminal Justice from American Military University. She graduated from the FBI National Academy Session #281 in March 2022, is a member of La Quinta Rotary and the Women Leaders Forum and serves as a board member for Operation Safehouse. Chief Deputy Reynolds is marri ed and has two children.

On April 21, 2022, Chief Deputy Reynolds was appointed to her current rank by Sheriff Chad Bianco and currently oversees Field Support Operations.
