On Thursday, April 16th, 2020, at 3:15 P.M. the Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force with the assistance of the Palm Desert Burglary Suppression Unit (BSU), conducted a follow-up investigation into an armed robbery that occurred in the unincorporated community of Thousand Palms at 9:15 A.M. During the robbery, four masked suspects robbed an adult male victim at gunpoint, taking his wallet in the process. The suspects fled the scene in a vehicle.

Gang Task Force and Palm Desert BSU located one of the suspects in the area of Avenue 50 and Jackson Street in Indio during which time the suspect was taken into custody without incident. The suspect was subsequently identified as Pete Collins, 18 of Thermal. Gang Task Force Officers served a search warrant for Collins’ vehicle and his residence located in the 83000 block of Avenue 50 in the unincorporated community of Thermal. During the service of the search warrant Task Force Officers located evidence related to the robbery. Collins was charged with Robbery and booked at the Indio Jail.
