On Wednesday, May 27, 2020, personnel from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, and Riverside County Code Enforcement served seven marijuana cultivation related search warrants in the unincorporated county areas of Aguanga and Anza. During the service, approximately 14,861 plants were eradicated and 2050 pounds of processed marijuana was collected, for a total combined weight of approximately four tons. Eight firearms, (five rifles, two handguns and one shotgun), and approximately $8,000 in currency were collected for evidence. A container of toxic pesticide that have been banned in the United States for endangering domestic animals and wildlife and are known hazards to the water table were located at one of the locations.
The following suspects were arrested for Marijuana Cultivation, (charges will be filed with the District Attorney’s Office):
- 82-year-old Aguanga resident Gene Richards
- 41-year-old Aguanga resident Delfina Richards
- 42-year-old El Monte resident Jose Chacon
- 20-year-old Michoacán resident Edgar Florez-Ruiz
- 25-year-old Michoacán resident Jose Torres-Lopez
- 19-year-old Aguanga resident Christian Alcaras
- 20-year-old Jalisco resident Gabriel Diaz-Ruiz
- 17-year-old North Dakota female juvenile
- 17-year-old Sun Valley male juvenile
