On Monday, July13, 2020, about 11:44 AM, deputies from Riverside County Sheriff’s Department - Perris Station responded to a major injury traffic collision near the intersection of Harley Knox Boulevard and Patterson Avenue in the city of Perris. Deputies arrived within minutes and located a collision involving a Chevy Blazer and a Ford F 150 pickup truck. The driver and passenger of the Ford F150 suffered major injuries and succumbed to their injuries at the scene. Their identity is not being released at this time. The driver of the Chevy Blazer fled the scene on foot and was later apprehended near the scene of the collision.
The Perris Traffic Reconstruction Team responded to the location and assumed the investigation. Preliminary investigation suggests the driver of the Chevy Blazer was driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance at the time of this collision. After receiving medical clearance, the driver will be booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center for driving under the influence and homicide.
