On Monday, July 20, 2020, Aaron Souvenir was arrested and booked into the Smith Correctional Facility for knowingly making a false police report and insurance fraud.
On Thursday July 2, 2020, at 11:15 PM, deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, assigned to the city of Calimesa, responded to the area of Mesa Grande Drive and Calimesa Blvd. in Calimesa to investigate a report of a hate crime.
Aaron Souvenir reported that a dark SUV had intentionally rammed his vehicle twice after the male occupants of the vehicle yelled out racial slurs. At the scene of the alleged incident, Souvenir showed the responding deputy significant damage to the rear of his vehicle which he stated occurred during the ramming incident.
Investigators from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Cabazon Station immediately assumed the investigation. Further investigation revealed Souvenir’s vehicle damage did not occur as he reported, and that Souvenir lied about the incident and filed a fraudulent insurance claim.
