On Thursday, August 6, 2020, at approximately 7:14 PM, deputies from the Perris Station responded to the 2000 block of Mount Verdugo Lane in Perris regarding a battery between two males.

Deputies arrived on scene and began to interview the involved persons. During an interview with the victim, he became unresponsive. Deputies began life-saving measures until emergency medical personnel arrived. The male, however, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. The decedent was identified as 37-year-old Manuel Marroquin.

Investigators from the Perris Station and the Central Homicide Unit responded and assumed the investigation. As a result of the investigation, 30-year-old, Claudio Perez of Perris was arrested and booked into custody for causing the death of Manuel Marroquin.
