Details:
On Saturday, August 8th, 2020, at 5:41 a.m., deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, San Jacinto Station, responded to Ramona Expressway, west of Warren Road, regarding a two-vehicle traffic collision. Deputies located a vehicle fully engulfed along with another vehicle in the middle of the roadway. Cal-Fire arrived on-scene and extinguished the fire. A deceased subject was located inside the vehicle. Another subject was located on-scene suffering from injuries. Life saving measures were attempted, but the subject succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The preliminary investigation revealed a black Kia Spectra was traveling westbound on Ramona Expressway and a Ford Expedition was traveling eastbound on Ramona Expressway. For unknown reasons, the Kia drifted over the double-yellow line and struck the Ford head-on. The driver of the Kia was unable to the exit the vehicle and was discovered after the vehicle fire was extinguished. The identification of the decedents is being withheld pending the Coroner’s notification of the next of kin.
The San Jacinto Stations Collision Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. During the investigation, Ramona Expressway was closed from Warren Road to Bridge Street until approximately 10:15 a.m. This investigation is ongoing, anyone with information regarding this collision is encouraged to contact Deputy Cox at the San Jacinto Station, 951-654-2702.
