Details:
On Sunday, August 23rd, 2020, at 2:05 a.m., deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, San Jacinto Station, responded to Ramona Boulevard and Lyon Avenue, regarding a single vehicle traffic collision. Deputies located a vehicle in a field on the north edge of Ramona Boulevard. Cal-Fire was on-scene and providing medical attention to the driver and passenger. The passenger was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Life saving measures were attempted on the driver, but the subject succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The preliminary investigation revealed an Infinity passenger car was traveling westbound on Ramona Boulevard at a high rate of speed. After going through the intersection of Lyon Avenue, the vehicle lost control and left the roadway. The vehicle struck a power pole and came to rest on its roof. The identification of the decedents is being withheld pending the Coroner’s notification of the next of kin.
The San Jacinto Stations Collision Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. During the investigation, Ramona Boulevard was closed in the area of Lyon Avenue. As of the time of this release, the roadway continues to remain closed for power line repairs.
