On September 2, 2020 at 7:00 AM, members from the Murrieta-Temecula Regional Gang Task Force served a search warrant at a residence in the 37000 block of Hydrus Place in the city of Murrieta. Other teams assisting with the search warrant were the Murrieta Police Department’s Community Policing Team (CPT), Special Enforcement Team (SET), two members from the Riverside Auto Theft Interdiction Detail (RAID), an officer from Central PACT, and three Murrieta Police K-9 Officers.

A total of eight persons were detained inside. Officers recovered almost 11 ounces of combined methamphetamine and heroin, a shotgun and ammunition, sales related packaging indicia, body armor, digital scales, five hundred dollars of currency, and stolen property. Resident Luis Cruz (40 years old) was arrested and booked into Cois Byrd Detention Center.

The Murrieta-Temecula Regional Gang Task Force is one of 6 teams which compose the Riverside County Regional Gang Task Force which is a collaborative effort of 25 law enforcement agencies with the goal of combating criminal street gangs. The Murrieta-Temecula Regional Gang Task Force is staffed with members from the California Highway Patrol, United States Border Patrol, Murrieta Police Department, Riverside County Probation Department, and the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
