Update:

Further investigation revealed the suspects to be 25-year-old San Jacinto resident Joshua Rivera and 24-year-old San Jacinto resident Jose Monrial.

Rivera was arrested on Saturday, December 19, 2020 and booked for his involvement in the incident. Later that day, personnel from the San Jacinto Station, with the assistance of Riverside County Special Weapons and Tactics Team served a search warrant at Monrial’s residence in the 800 Block of Minor St., San Jacinto. Monrial was not located during the service of the search warrant.

On Sunday, January 31, 2021, at approximately 7:09 P.M., a deputy responded to the 800 block of Minor St., San Jacinto, in reference to a medical aid call for service. While at the location he located Monrial, he was arrested and booked for his involvement in the incident.

Details:

On Thursday, December 17, 2020, at approximately 5:22 P.M, personnel from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, San Jacinto Sheriff Station, responded to a shooting that just occurred near the intersection of Hewitt Street and Esplanade Avenue, in the City of San Jacinto. Preliminary investigation revealed an unknown suspect, driving an unknown vehicle, pulled up next to the victim, who was also driving a vehicle. The suspect then fired multiple rounds into the victim’s vehicle. A canine in the back seat of the victim’s vehicle was struck by the gunfire and died from its injuries.
