On July 31, 2019, members of the Murrieta-Temecula Regional Gang Task Force recognized a probationer in a parking lot at a motel in the 28000 block of Jefferson Avenue in the City of Temecula.  The 33-year old Temecula transient probationer was identified as Justin Carter.  A probation search of his possessions and vehicle resulted in the recovery of a loaded handgun, addition magazines, and ammunition.  One of the magazines was found to be an illegal large capacity magazine.  The firearm had been altered and illegally turned into an assault weapon.  A records check of the firearm revealed it to have been stolen.

Justin Carter was booked into CBDC on the following charges.

The Murrieta-Temecula Regional Gang Task Force is one of 5 teams which compose the Riverside County Regional Gang Task Force which is a collaborative effort of several law enforcement agencies with the goal of combating criminal street gangs.
