Details:
On Thursday, January 21, 2021, at 9:10 PM, deputies from the Perris Station responded to the 21000 block of Harford Park Lane in the unincorporated area of Lake Mathews for a report of subjects involved in an altercation. During the incident, a property owner was physically threatened by a former resident. During the confrontation, the property owner feared for their safety and their family's safety and used a firearm against the assailant.
Deputies arrived at the location and found the assailant suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite life-saving efforts, the subject was pronounced deceased at the location. The decedent has been identified as 39-year-old Ned Cornish from Perris.
Investigators from the Perris Station and Central Homicide Unit responded and assumed the investigation. At this point, the shooting appears to have been done in self-defense, and no arrests have been made.
