Details:

On February 10, 2021, at 1:19 PM, deputies from the Moreno Valley Station responded to a report of an assault with deadly weapon on 15000 block of Rio Grande Drive.

Upon arrival, deputies found a 21-year-old, male resident of Moreno Valley suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound (later identified as the suspect). Deputies also located the victim, an 18-year-old, female suffering from gunshot wounds. Both subjects were transported to nearby hospitals via ambulance for further care. Investigators responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. The crime scene was processed by investigators with the assistance of forensics.

Investigators received information that both the male suspect and the female victim were arguing prior the shooting. Our investigation revealed that the male suspect shot himself outside of the victim’s residence. The suspect remains hospitalized until he is medically cleared for booking. The victim remains in the hospital receiving further care.

This is an active investigation with suspect’s identity being withheld at this time. The suspect’s name will be released once he is booked into a jail facility. No additional details are currently available.
