Details:

On June 13, 2019, deputies were dispatched to a shooting in the 300 block of East 5th Street in the city of Perris.  Responding deputies discovered several shell casings in the street, as well as a vehicle that had been damaged by gunfire.  The investigation revealed there was an exchange of gunfire between rival gang members.  Deputies detained Johnny Murillo, age 48, and Diana Reyna, age 46, at the scene.  A third subject, later identified as Daniel Castro, age 28, fled from the rear of the residence and was caught after a short foot pursuit.  A search warrant was obtained for the residence, where four firearms and several rounds of ammunition were located and seized.

Murillo and Castro are known gang members and convicted felons, and were arrested for charges of possession of firearms and ammunition by prohibited persons.  Reyna was arrested for child endangerment, destruction of evidence, and obstruction.  All three subjects are residents of Perris and were booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center.  Bail for Reyna was set at $35,000, and bail for Murillo and Castro was set at $10,000.

The investigation is ongoing, and deputies are attempting to identify additional suspects in this case.  Anyone with information on this case is encouraged to contact Deputy Andy Acosta at the Gang Task Force by calling 951-210-1113.
