Update:

On March 26, 2021, La Quinta Special Enforcement Team deputies conducted a follow-up at the John J. Benoit Detention Center, in Indio. While in custody on a separate crime, Noe Millan Mora, 30 of Desert Hot Springs, was booked for robbery and conspiracy.

On May 3, 2021, La Quinta Special Enforcement Team deputies contacted Garret Thomas Basich, 31 of Desert Hot Springs, and Fernando Leal, 40 of Indio, at the 46000 block of Oasis St., in Indio. Both subjects were arrested and booked at the John J. Benoit Detention Center for robbery.

Details:

On January 27, 2021, La Quinta Special Enforcement Team deputies conducted a follow-up investigation that stemmed from an armed robbery which occurred at the 79000 block of Olympia Fields, in La Quinta on December 20, 2020. Deputies identified four suspects who were all armed with firearms at the time of the incident. The suspects assaulted the two victims who were struck in the head with the firearms and rendered unconscious. The victims were subsequently robbed of their belongings.

On March 19, 2021, deputies served a search warrant at the 66000 block of 1st Street, in Desert Hot Springs. Arrested was Luis Leyva Jr., 32 of Desert Hot Springs, for robbery, assault with a deadly weapon (firearm), and conspiracy. Leyva was booked at the John J. Benoit Detention Center.
