Details:
On May 5, 2021, at 2:56 PM, deputies responded to the area of Gilman Springs Road, south of Alessandro Boulevard, Moreno Valley, regarding a single-vehicle traffic collision. Within minutes, deputies arrived and discovered the collision involved a Toyota Avalon motorist. Deputies and good Samaritans extricated the adult female driver from the vehicle. The driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle. The vehicle caught on fire and also ignited a nearby vegetation fire. Deputies attempted Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) on the driver. Extensive life-saving efforts were performed by the deputies and they were relieved by CalFire medics. The driver was later pronounced deceased.
The Moreno Valley Traffic Reconstruction Team assumed the investigation. Preliminary investigation indicates the driver was driving southbound on Gilman Springs. For an unknown reason, the driver left the roadway and collided with nearby concrete pipes. Gilman Springs will be closed for approximately four hours for the scene investigation. Deputies are still investigating if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in this collision. The identity of the driver will not be released at this time.
