Moreno Valley, Ca — The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Moreno Valley Station’s Traffic Team, received numerous complaints regarding loud vehicles with modified exhaust and vehicles engaged in street racing throughout the city of Moreno Valley. Often times those involved vehicles gather at non-permitted car shows and other locations within Moreno Valley and neighboring communities. These loud and racing vehicles pose a risk to public safety and negatively affect the quality of life of Moreno Valley residents. As a result, the Moreno Valley Station’s Traffic Team conducted a targeted enforcement operation to seek out violators of the California Vehicle Code, particularly violations associated with street racing and illegal vehicle modifications.  The operation, which occurred throughout the city of Moreno Valley, yielded the following results:

  • 22 Total Traffic Stops for Various Violations, Including Three for Modified Exhaust
  • 21 Citations Issued
  • 3 In-Field Vehicle Inspections Performed
  • 1 Arrest for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol
  • 1 Arrest for Reckless Driving
  • 1 Arrest for an Outstanding Warrant
  • 1 Arrest for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • 2 Vehicles Towed and Stored
  • 2 Vehicles Towed and Impounded

Drivers charged with street racing related offenses face having their vehicle impounded for 30 days and maybe subjected to fines and penalties as imposed by the court.   For further information regarding street racing and vehicle modifications, or concerns about the legality of certain vehicle modifications, residents would be encouraged to call Deputy Bechtold of the Moreno Valley Station’s Traffic Team at (951) 486-6700.
