When driving a commercial vehicle safety, starts with the vehicle operator. According to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, the odds of a commercial vehicle being involved in a safety-critical incident are greatly increased when commercial vehicles are operated on roadways in unsafe conditions. Due to the increased number of commercial vehicles operating on public roadways within the City of Perris, On October 14, 2021, between the hours of 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM, Commercial Traffic Enforcement Deputies from the Perris Station’s Traffic Bureau, conducted commercial enforcement on Ramona Expressway in the City of Perris.

During the operation there were 6 citations issued for various commercial vehicle code violations. One commercial vehicle operator was cited for being overweight and spilling its load upon the roadway.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Perris Station Traffic Bureau is continuing its public awareness and enforcement with the intent to reduce the number of injury and fatal traffic collisions involving commercial vehicles operating within the City of Perris in an unsafe condition.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department offers steps drivers can take to greatly reduce the risk of getting injured or in a crash, including staying off the phone when behind the wheel.
