Details:

On February 27, 2022, about 4:52 PM deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Moreno Valley Station, responded to the report of a major-injury traffic collision at the intersection of Indian Street and Delphinium Avenue, in the city of Moreno Valley. Deputies arrived on-scene to find there were two vehicles involved, a black, Dodge Ram truck and a gold, Toyota Solana sedan. The driver of the Toyota was found unresponsive and trapped inside of the passenger compartment, requiring extrication by CalFire personnel before being transported to a local area hospital with major injuries. The driver of the Dodge was uninjured during the traffic collision and remained on-scene to cooperate with the investigation.

The Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station Traffic Collision Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. The investigation revealed the Dodge was traveling north on Indian Street and the Toyota was traveling west on Delphinium Avenue. As both vehicles entered the intersection, the front of the Dodge collided into the driver’s side of the Toyota. The impact of the collision caused the Toyota to careen across the roadway and come to rest north of the intersection. The cause of the collision is still under investigation and alcohol appears to be a factor. The driver of the Toyota succumb to the injuries suffered during the traffic collision. The identity of the involved parties will not be released at this time, pending notification to the family, and the investigation’s completion.

The traffic collision investigation required the temporary closure of the intersection of Indian Street and Delphinium Avenue, in order to process the scene and collect evidence.
