cam-02

Riverside County Sheriff's Department Press Release

Reporting Deputy: Sergeant Richard Fransik

File # MV220830046

Details:

On Thursday, March 24, 2022, about 9:00 AM, members of the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s station sex registrant compliance unit, in partnership with the Perris Sheriff’s station special enforcement team, Riverside County Probation Department, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation Parole Division, United States Marshals Service, and the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office conducted a sexual offender compliance sweep at multiple locations within the city of Moreno Valley.

During the sweep, law enforcement attempted to contact registered sex offenders to ensure each offender was in compliance with state requirements pursuant to California Penal Code section 290.

During the compliance sweep, 58 attempts were made to contact these registrants. 5 registrants were suspected of being out of compliance. The Moreno Valley Sheriff’s station sex registrant compliance unit will be completing follow-up investigations into those found to be out of compliance and anticipate arrest warrants to be submitted to the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.

Four additional subjects contacted during the compliance sweep were arrested on various unrelated misdemeanor and felony charges which included: possession of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine for sales, felon in possession of prohibited weapons, probation violations, and outstanding felony warrants.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department aggressively pursues prosecution of those sex registrants who fail to comply with their registration requirements. The Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station will be conducting similar sweeps on an ongoing basis to verify registered sex offenders are living at their reported residences and in compliance with state requirements pursuant to California Penal Code section 290.

Residents of Riverside County can visit the Megan’s Law website (www.meganslaw.ca.gov) to familiarize themselves with the sex registrants in their community.

Anyone with additional information is encouraged to call Deputy Horta of the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station at 951-486-6700 or the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department at 951-776-1099.
