[ARCHIVED] Critical Incident Training

Riverside County Sheriff's Department Press Release

Reporting Deputy: Alex Ruvalcaba

File # N/A

Details:

Personnel from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Colorado River Station in collaboration with the Palo Verde Unified School District will be conducting critical incident training at local schools. This training will involve simulation of critical incidents. During the simulation there will be a law enforcement presence, role players, loudspeakers, and other props to simulate a critical incident on a school campus. Training will start Friday August 05, 2022, at 9:00 am and continue for several hours.

The collaborative training between the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and the Palo Verde Unified School District is part of an ongoing effort to ensure Sheriff’s Department Personnel, Blythe Police, California Highway Patrol, Border Patrol and the La Paz County Sheriff Department are prepared to respond in the event of an incident involving one of our schools. The Colorado River Station will conduct multiple force-on-force training scenarios throughout the year to help prepare our staff.

Palo Verde Unified School District will be notifying the residents surrounding each location prior to the start of training. Throughout the year and even during these trainings: If you See Something, Say Something.

Authorized members of the media are invited to film portions of the training on Friday August 05, 2022, at Palo Verde High School, located at 667 N Lovekin Boulevard in the City of Blythe. While the training will take place over several hours, the media will have access from 8:45am-10:00am.

If you have any questions about the critical incident training, or the on-going training please contact Sergeant Ed Reynoso at the Colorado River Station (760) 921-7900.
