On January 4, 2022, about 12:15 PM, personnel from the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station were dispatched to a call of an unresponsive female adult in the 23000 block of Sunnymead Blvd., city of Moreno Valley. Upon deputies' arrival, it was determined a 32-year-old female was deceased. The case was immediately assumed by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Overdose Death Investigations and Narcotics Unit (ODIN) as it was determined the decedent, 32-year-old Brittany Locke, was a victim of Fentanyl Poisoning. The investigation continued and a suspect, Brandon Shino a 30-year-old resident of Jurupa Valley, was identified as being the suspect responsible for selling the Fentanyl that killed Locke.

On August 17, 2022, with assistance from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Major Crimes Unit and ODIN personnel, Shino was located and taken into custody without incident. Shino was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for Murder. This investigation is ongoing and anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact Master Investigator Robert Cornett at 951-955-1700. As a reminder, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department wants to remind citizens of the dangers of illicit narcotics many which may contain Fentanyl. Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is 100 times stronger than morphine and can cause death or serious bodily harm.
