On October 16, 2022, at 11:23 AM, Thermal Station patrol deputies responded to the 50000 block of Cesar Chavez Street in the city of Coachella, reference an adult male victim who was kidnapped, robbed, assaulted, and extorted for money.

The investigation revealed the victim was visiting a local casino. The victim left the casino with the suspects and drove to the city of Coachella. While in the 53500 block of Cesar Chavez Street, the victim was assaulted and robbed. The suspects demanded money from the victim, which he did not have. The suspects held the victim against his will and demanded money from the victim’s personal contacts. Once the ransom was paid, the victim was dropped off in the 50000 block of Cesar Chavez Street in the city of Coachella. The victim was treated by paramedics at the scene for his injuries. The investigation was assumed by the Thermal Station Investigations Bureau.

During the investigation, the suspects were positively identified as Alexander Henry Edlund, 34 of Coachella, and Brian Emmanuel Jamand, 26 of Coachella.

On October 16, 2022, at 8:24 PM, Jamand was located in the 78000 block of Highway 111 in the city of La Quinta. Jamand was taken into custody without incident. Jamand was booked at the John Benoit Detention Center for robbery, aggravated kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon, and committing a felony while on bail.

On October 21, 2022, Edlund was located in the 83500 block of Indio Boulevard in the city of Indio. Edlund was taken into custody without incident. Edlund was booked at the John Benoit Detention Center for robbery, aggravated kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon, and false imprisonment.
