Update:

On December 7, 2022, the victim in this case was identified as a 15-year-old male resident of Moreno Valley. The victim’s name will not be released due to his age. During the course of the investigation, a suspect was identified as Terrence Young Jr., a 19-year-old resident of Moreno Valley. The Major Crimes Unit located and detained Young in the city of Bellflower on December 9, 2022. Young was arrested for Homicide and booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center.

This investigation is currently on-going and no further information will be released at this time. Details:

On December 6, 2022, at 5:14 PM, deputies from the Moreno Valley Sheriff Station responded to a report of a shooting in the 14600 block of Cagney Court in Moreno Valley. Deputies arrived within minutes and located a male victim with gunshot wounds. Emergency life-saving procedures were performed, but the male victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Deputies secured the area as a crime scene and investigators from Moreno Valley Station responded. The Central Homicide Unit also responded and assumed the investigation.

The victim, a black male, approximately thirteen to nineteen years old, has not been identified at this time. The suspect is unknown and has not been located. This investigation is currently on-going and no further information will be released at this time.
