On December 8, 2022, at 7:00 AM., members of the Coachella Community Action Team (CCAT), with the assistance of the La Quinta Special Enforcement Team, the La Quinta Traffic Team, and the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team, simultaneously served a search warrant at two residences located in the 84100 block of Laguna Lane in the city of Coachella and the 82200 block of Santa Rosa Avenue in the city of Indio. The search warrant stemmed from a shooting which occurred in the city of Coachella on November 2, 2022. During the search warrant, a male juvenile documented criminal street gang member was taken into custody for his involvement in the shooting. Recovered was a loaded non-serialized 9mm handgun with an extended magazine. The male juvenile was booked at the Indio Juvenile Hall for shooting at an occupied dwelling, juvenile in possession of a firearm, possession of a non-serialized firearm, possession of an extended magazine, and violation of juvenile probation.
