On Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at 12:32 P.M., deputies assigned to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department-Robert Presley Detention Center were conducting a security check of a housing unit and found an unresponsive male inmate in a cell. Custody staff and jail medical staff immediately administered life-saving measures. American Medical Response and Riverside Fire personnel responded and assumed life-saving measures. The male inmate was transported to a local hospital for further medical treatment. Despite medical intervention efforts, the male inmate was pronounced deceased on December 19, 2022. The decedent was a registered organ donor and remains at the hospital pending completion of the organ donor process.
An investigation into this incident will be conducted by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. There are no signs of foul play and due to the ongoing status of the investigation, no further information is available at this time.
