On Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at 7:00 P.M. Deputies from the Moreno Valley Station Special Enforcement Team- Gang Unit, were conducting proactive patrol in the 2400 Block of Atwood Avenue, Moreno Valley. They conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a Toyota Camry and contacted the driver and passenger. The passenger was currently on CDC Parole. A search of the vehicle, pursuant to CDC Parole search terms, was conducted. Inside the vehicle, deputies located a loaded firearm and 26 grams of methamphetamine. During the investigation it was determined the driver, Angel Lopez-Ruiz, a 22 year old Hispanic male adult and resident of Moreno Valley, was the possessor of the controlled substance and firearm. He was taken into custody and booked at Robert Presley Detention Center for controlled substance and weapons possession violations.
