On December 31, 2022, at 11:47 AM, Moreno Valley Station deputies responded to a report of a theft that occurred at a business located in the 23900 block of Sunnymead Boulevard, Moreno Valley. Deputies arrived and checked the area for the subject responsible for the theft but were unable to locate him.

The Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station’s Robbery/Burglary Suppression Team (RBST) assumed the investigation and immediately began following up on all leads. RBST identified the subject responsible for the theft as Caleb Johnson, a 32-year-old resident of Moreno Valley. Johnson was also found to be responsible for several additional thefts at businesses in Moreno Valley, Perris, and Riverside.

On January 26, 2023, at 10:00 AM, RBST served a search warrant at Johnson’s residence, located in the 12200 block of Calle Sombra, Moreno Valley. Johnson was detained without incident. During service of the search warrant, several thousand dollars’ worth of stolen merchandise were located inside. A firearm and ammunition were also located, both items Johnson is prohibited from possessing. Johnson was later booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center on theft related charges, felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, and committing a felony while out on bail. Micaela Presley, a 37-year-old resident of Moreno Valley, was also arrested at the residence and later booked for possession of known stolen property.

On January 30, 2023, RBST met with representatives from multiple retailers in the area and were able to return approximately $20,000.00 worth of stolen merchandise to the appropriate retailers.
