On 02/04/23, at 6:18 hours, deputies assigned to the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station responded to the 17000 block of Wide Canyon Road, in Sky Valley reference reports of gunshots in the area. When deputies arrived, they located evidence consistent with a shooting scene. Deputies were advised a male victim had been dropped off at Desert Regional Medical Center suffering from gunshot wounds who succumbed to his injuries despite medical care. Deputies responded to the hospital and the crime scenes were secured. The Central Homicide Unit responded and assumed the investigation. The victim was identified as a 17-yearl-old male, resident of Desert Hot Springs.

As investigators conducted their investigation they identified and arrested Alexis Duran, an 18-year-old male resident of Cathedral City for murder. Duran was booked into a local jail for the same charge.
