On February 12, 2022, about 7:09 PM, personnel from the Southwest Sheriff’s Station were dispatched to a call of an unresponsive male adult in the 27500 block of Jefferson Avenue in the city of Temecula. Upon arrival, deputies found Cameron Trask, a 43-year-old male, Camron Trask, unresponsive in a bathroom stall. Lifesaving measures were unsuccessful and Trask was ultimately pronounced deceased. The Coroner’s Bureau determined Trask died as a result of Fentanyl Poisoning and the case was immediately assumed by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office Overdose Death Investigations and Narcotics Unit (ODIN). Over the next several months, the investigation was relentlessly worked and a suspect, Kevin Bryant (51 years old) from Carlsbad, was identified as being the suspect responsible for selling the Fentanyl that killed Trask.
On February 26, 2023, ODIN personnel located Bryant at the San Ysidro Port of Entry and took him into custody without incident. Bryant was later booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center for murder. This investigation is ongoing and anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact Investigator Garcia-Flores at 951-955-1700. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office wants to remind citizens of the dangers of illicit narcotics, many of which may contain Fentanyl. Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is 100 times stronger than morphine and can cause death or serious bodily harm.
