Riverside County Sheriff-Press Release

Reporting Deputy: Sergeant Dawn Blair

File # D230460031

Details:

In February 2023, a Hemet Sheriff’s Station School Resource Officer learned that vape pens containing concentrated cannabis were being sold to juveniles who attend a local school in the 41500 block of East Mayberry Avenue in Hemet. The investigation revealed James David Britton, Jr., a 20-year-old resident of Hemet, used social media to contact and sell vape pens to students at the school. Using social media, Britton Jr. would arrange a location to meet or drop off the vape pens in exchange for money.

On March 7, 2023, a warrant was issued for Britton Jr.’s arrest. He was later located and arrested during a traffic enforcement stop in the city of San Jacinto. Britton Jr. was booked into the Cois M. Byrd Detention Center for narcotics sales and distributing marijuana to a minor and child endangerment likely to produce harm.

Anyone with information involving this case is asked to contact Deputy Ryan Weber at the Hemet Sheriff’s Station at 951–791–3400.
