On Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at 3:00 P.M. , the Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force assumed an investigation related to the illegal possession and trafficking of multiple firearms.  Gang Task Force Officers responded to Box Canyon Road and Powerline Road in Mecca reference a traffic stop conducted by United States Border Patrol.  During the traffic stop an adult male was detained after multiple illegally possessed firearms were located in his vehicle.  The firearms included a 5.56mm Pistol, a 9mm Pistol Caliber Carbine, two 9mm semi-auto handguns and a .45 caliber semi-auto handgun. Gang Task Force took custody of the firearms and the suspect and subsequently identified the suspect as convicted felon, Salvador Gudino, 38 of Mecca.

Approximately 8:30 PM, Gang Task Force Officers executed a search warrant at Gudino’s residence located in the 91000 block of Teresa Way in Mecca. During the service of the search warrant Gang Task Force Officers located additional illegally possessed firearms and ammunition including a .38 Super semi-auto handgun and a 12-Gauge shotgun.

Gudino was arrested for Felon in Possession of Firearms, Felon in Possession of Ammunition and Possession of Unregistered Firearms. Gudino was booked at John Benoit Detention Center in Indio.
