On April 5, 2023, Riverside County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a remote hiking trail at the Joshua Tree National Park reference a 64-year-old male hiker who had been located unresponsive. Park Rangers responded to the scene and determined the hiker was deceased. The preliminary investigation indicates he suffered a medical emergency during his hike. No signs of foul play were located. The Coroner’s Bureau responded and took over the investigation.
