Riverside County Sheriff-Press Release

Reporting Deputy: Ruvalcaba

File # N/A

Details:

The Riverside County Sheriff's - Colorado River Station's primary goal is to help keep the Palo Verde Valley (PVV) community safe during the July 4th weekend. There will be additional deputies on patrol looking for illegal/unsafe use of fireworks throughout the unincorporated areas of Blythe. Deputies will conduct "zero tolerance" enforcement/education for all firework-related violations to prevent accidents, injuries, and fires.

As an added safety measure, the Colorado River Station will be deploying patrol boats along the Colorado River. This will also be a “zero tolerance” enforcement/education for all personal watercraft (PWC) and boating related violations to include impaired driving. Please operate your vessels and PWC’s sober, watch out for other watercraft and swimmers, and wear a lifesaving vest. Remember, deputies are trained to detect alcohol and/or drug-impaired drivers/operators. They will also be equipped with portable hand-held breath testing devices which provide an accurate measure of blood alcohol concentration of suspected drunk drivers/operators. Offenders will be processed and booked into the Riverside County Blythe Jail. Both enforcement details are expected to run from June 30 through July 4, 2023.

Anyone with information on illegal/unsafe fireworks is encouraged to call the Riverside County Sheriff’s – Colorado River Station at (760) 921–7900.
