Details: 

On November 15, 2019, at the direction of Sheriff Bianco, personnel from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Hemet Station, with the assistance of the Water Board, Riverside County Code Enforcement, and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife served three marijuana cultivation search warrants in the unincorporated county area known as Sage.  The three locations, all in the 34000 Block of E. Benton Rd., Sage, had been identified as possible sources of shots being fired in the direction of a deputy during a previous routine call for service in the area.

During the service, 2253 plants and 619 pounds of processed marijuana were collected for a total of approximately four tons.  Three rifles, (two of which were classified as Assault Rifles), one handgun and one sawed off shotgun were seized.

One suspect, identified as 48-year-old Sage resident Gabriel Luna, was determined to be culpable for the cultivation of marijuana at the location.  A records check revealed Luna was a previously convicted felon.  All five of the weapons were located either in or directly outside of the trailer Luna was contacted in.  Luna will be charged with Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Felon with Ammunition, Possession of a Short Barreled Shotgun and Marijuana Cultivation.
