On Wednesday, November 13, 2019, at 8:51am, Moreno Valley deputies responded to a single vehicle, major injury traffic collision on Perris Boulevard, north of John F. Kennedy Drive. Deputies arrived within minutes and located an SUV which collided with a wall on the East side of Perris Boulevard. The adult male driver of the SUV was the apparent victim of a shooting just prior to the collision. He was transported to a local hospital where he is listed in critical condition.  An adult female passenger of the SUV was unharmed.  


Based on the condition of the victim, the Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. With the assistance of Moreno Valley Station personnel, forty-year-old, Richard Dupree Coleman III, was identified as the shooter and later taken into custody. He was arrested for attempted homicide, and assault with a deadly weapon and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside.
