On Thursday, November 14, 2019, deputies assigned to the Moreno Valley Station’s School Resource Unit responded to a reported assault at Vista Heights Middle School in Moreno Valley. The investigation revealed a male 13-year old male student assaulted a 12-year old female student on campus. This assault caused the female victim to momentarily lose consciousness. Students nearby assisted the victim as she regained consciousness and she returned to class prior to the incident being reported. The Sheriff’s Department learned of the attack when the female victim sought medical treatment at a local hospital. Sheriff’s deputies immediately launched an investigation which ultimately led back to the middle school the following morning.

After several interviews, the 13-year old suspect was arrested and later booked into Riverside County Juvenile Hall on 1 count of 245 PC, Assault likely to cause great bodily injury.
