On Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 11:39 p.m., San Jacinto Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to Lake Park Drive, East of Ramona Expressway, in the city of San Jacinto, regarding a major-injury traffic collision. Deputies arrived and located a white pickup truck and a pedestrian lying in the eastbound lanes of Lake Park Drive. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with severe injuries.
The San Jacinto Sheriff’s Traffic Collision Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. Preliminary investigation revealed the pedestrian stepped off the sidewalk into traffic lanes and was struck by the pickup truck. The driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene, cooperated with the investigation, and was later released. Alcohol and drugs did not appear to be a factor.
The collision investigation required the temporary closure of Lake Park Drive, between Soboba Road and Ramona Expressway, to process the scene and collect evidence.
On Tuesday, October 31, 2023, The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office was notified that the pedestrian had succumbed to their injuries while at the hospital. The identity of the deceased subject will not be released at this time, pending notification to the next of kin.
