Palm Desert, Calif. – On December 1, 2023, 4 people were arrested for DUI and 1 person was arrested for a felony warrant for drug sales at a DUI checkpoint.
The DUI checkpoint was held at Monterey Avenue and Country Club Drive from 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.
27 drivers were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed or with a suspended/revoked license, 18 field sobriety tests were conducted, and 909 vehicles were contacted.
DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads.
Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
