Rancho Mirage, Calif. – On January 12, 2023, one person was arrested for DUI, 1 person was arrested for an outstanding warrant and 2 were arrested for driving on a suspended license at a DUI checkpoint on January 12, 2023.
The DUI checkpoint was held at Highway 111 and Library Way, Rancho Mirage from 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.
27 drivers were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed or with a suspended/revoked license, 1,318 vehicles were contacted. 13 additional citations were issued for other hazardous violations.
DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints are to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads.
Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
