7 Arrested and 32 Cited at Palm Desert DUI Checkpoint
Palm Desert, Calif. – On February 23, 2024, 3 people were arrested for DUI – Alcohol, 1 was person was arrested for DUI Drugs/Alcohol combined, 2 people were arrested for driving on a suspended license, and 1 person was arrested for providing a false name, at a DUI checkpoint on February 23, 2024.
The DUI checkpoint was held at Fred Waring Drive and Portola Ave, Palm Desert, from 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.
32 drivers were cited for operating a vehicle without a license. 1,075 vehicles were contacted during the checkpoint, 84 of those vehicles received secondary screening. 14 Field Sobriety Tests were conducted.
DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints are to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads.
Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
