On March 12, 2024, at about 7:31 p.m., deputies from the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station responded to the intersection of Cook Street and County Club Drive regarding a report of a major injury traffic collision involving a vehicle and a bicyclist. Upon arrival, deputies located the bicyclist unresponsive with major injuries on the roadway. The male bicyclist was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. The driver of the involved vehicle remained at the scene and was cooperative during the investigation.
The Palm Desert Traffic Team was called to the scene and assumed the investigation. The traffic collision investigation required the temporary closure of the intersection of Cook Street and Country Club Drive. The roadway has since been reopened. The identity of the deceased will not be released pending further investigation and notification to the next of kin.
