File # I240870066
Details:
On Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at 7:58 PM, deputies assigned to the San Jacinto Sheriff’s Station responded to the area of South San Jacinto Avenue and Shaver Street in the city of San Jacinto regarding a major-injury traffic collision. Deputies arrived and located a silver Honda sedan and a pedestrian who was lying in the northbound lanes of South San Jacinto Avenue. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with severe injuries and was subsequently pronounced deceased.
The San Jacinto Sheriff’s Station Traffic Collision Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. A preliminary investigation revealed that the pedestrian had stepped off the sidewalk and into traffic lanes and had been struck by the sedan. The sedan’s driver remained at the scene, cooperated with the investigation, and was later released. Alcohol and drugs did not appear to be a factor.
The collision investigation required the temporary closure of South San Jacinto Avenue, between Shaver Street and East Esplanade Avenue, to process the scene and collect evidence. The identity of the decedent is being withheld pending next of kin notification.
