On Thursday, April 4, 2024, at 7:38 a.m., deputies from the San Jacinto Sheriff’s Station responded to Ramona Expressway X San Jacinto Avenue, San Jacinto, regarding a major injury traffic collision involving multiple vehicles. Deputies arrived and located four heavily damaged vehicles blocking traffic lanes on Ramona Expressway. The occupants, who were all severely injured, were trapped inside their vehicles. Cal-Fire immediately responded and began extricating the injured parties and rendering medical aid. One of the drivers was pronounced deceased at the scene. The other injured parties were transported to a local area hospital with significant injuries.
The San Jacinto Traffic Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. The cause of the collision is still under investigation, and the identities of the involved parties, including the deceased, will not be released pending notification to the next of kin. This is an ongoing investigation, and no further information is available at this time.
The collision investigation required the temporary closure of Ramona Expressway between San Jacinto Avenue and Eagle Road to process the scene and collect evidence.
