On Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at 4:24 p.m., deputies from the Lake Mathews Sheriff’s Station responded to the 11000 block of Starlily Court, Temescal Valley, regarding the report of domestic violence. Upon arrival, deputies contacted the victim, who advised she had been assaulted by the suspect, identified as Alfredo Espinoza, a 49-year-old resident of Temescal Valley.
The victim told deputies Espinoza was still inside their residence and possibly armed with a firearm and threatened to shoot deputies on scene. Espinoza refused to surrender to deputies and barricaded himself inside of his residence. The Riverside Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau was requested to assist and responded to the scene. After multiple negotiation efforts, Espinoza exited his residence and surrendered without incident.
The Lake Mathews Sheriff’s Station investigators authored and served a search warrant at the residence and located a non-serialized firearm.
Espinoza was taken into custody and charged with domestic violence, possession of a non-serialized firearm, criminal threats, and threats of violence to law enforcement and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center. The victim was treated at the scene for her injuries. This is an ongoing investigation, and no additional information is available.
